Any profit that you make from your SA is considered as ‘relevant earnings’ which means you can make tax-advantaged pension contributions.

Serviced accommodation and hotels are both popular choices for travellers seeking a place to stay during their travels. However, there are significant differences between the two, and it is important to understand these differences before deciding which option is best for you.
One of the main differences between serviced accommodation and hotels is the type of experience they offer. Serviced accommodation is typically more like a home away from home, with fully furnished apartments or houses available for rent on a short-term basis. These properties often come with a fully equipped kitchen, living room, and bedrooms, and may also offer additional amenities such as a pool, gym, or on-site parking.
In contrast, hotels are more traditional in nature and offer guests a more standardised experience. Guests typically stay in a room with a bed, bathroom, and other basic amenities, and may have access to additional facilities such as a pool, gym, or restaurant.
Another difference between serviced accommodation and hotels is the level of privacy and independence offered to guests. Serviced accommodation provides more space and privacy, as guests have their own self-contained unit. This is particularly appealing for families or groups of travellers who want more space to spread out and relax. In contrast, hotels typically offer smaller rooms with less privacy, as guests share common areas such as hallways and elevators.
Serviced accommodation also tends to offer more flexible booking options than hotels. Many serviced accommodation providers allow guests to book by the night, week, or month, making it easy to tailor the length of your stay to your specific needs. In contrast, hotels typically require guests to book for a minimum of one night, which may not be suitable for travellers with shorter stays.
Another factor to consider when deciding between serviced accommodation and hotels is the level of service provided. Serviced accommodation typically offers a more personalised service, with a dedicated team available to assist guests with any needs or requests. In contrast, hotels may offer a more standardised service, with a larger team and less one-on-one interaction with guests.
Cost is also a key difference between serviced accommodation and hotels. While serviced accommodation can be more expensive on a per-night basis, it may offer better value for travellers who are staying for longer periods of time. This is because serviced accommodation includes additional amenities such as a fully equipped kitchen, which can save guests money on meals and groceries. In contrast, hotels typically charge extra for these types of amenities, making them less cost-effective for longer stays.
Finally, location is another key factor to consider when deciding between serviced accommodation and hotels. Serviced accommodation is often located in residential areas, which can provide a more authentic and local experience for travellers. In contrast, hotels are typically located in more touristy areas, which may be more convenient for travellers who are looking for easy access to popular attractions.
In conclusion, serviced accommodation and hotels both have their own unique benefits and drawbacks, and the best option will depend on your specific needs and preferences. Serviced accommodation is a good choice for travellers who want a home away from home experience, with more space, privacy, and flexibility, while hotels are a better choice for travellers who want a more traditional and standardised experience. Ultimately, the decision will come down to your personal preferences and the specific needs of your trip.
This is where landlords are offered guaranteed rent for a fixed term, this could be anywhere from 12 - 60 months, the landlord then allows the service provider to sublet the property, which they then turn into serviced apartments. In theory, there are benefits to the landlord, as they no longer have to worry about void periods, management, evictions etc. The difference between what the service provider
rents the property from the landlord for, and what they are able to get on the open market, is theirs to keep as profit
